# Wat is MVO?

## **MVO**

MVO of Maatschappelijke Verantwoord Ondernemen is een breed concept waarbij bedrijven vrijwillig sociale verantwoordelijkheid nemen voor de maatschappelijke gevolgen van hun activiteiten. 

MVO kijkt naar een breed spectrum van ethisch, sociaal, maatschappelijk en milieugerelateerd gedrag van een bedrijf en is vaak meer gericht op het creëren van een positief imago en het opbouwen van goede relaties met stakeholders. 

MVO-initiatieven kunnen variëren van liefdadigheidsdonaties en gemeenschapsprojecten tot duurzame bedrijfspraktijken.

## **ESG vs MVO**

ESG is meer gestructureerd en kwantificeerbaar en richt zich specifiek op drie kerngebieden: environment, social en governance. 

ESG-criteria worden vaak gebruikt door investeerders om potentiële risico's en kansen te beoordelen die de financiële prestaties van een bedrijf kunnen beïnvloeden. Dit betekent dat ESG sterk geïntegreerd is in het financiële beoordelingsproces en gedreven wordt door de behoefte aan transparantie, verantwoording en duurzaamheidsprestaties.

Voor ESG bestaan duidelijkere richtlijnen en standaarden voor de rapportering, zoals de Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standaarden of de EU-regelgevingen zoals CSRD en SFDR. Deze normen helpen investeerders om de ESG-prestaties van bedrijven op een meetbare en vergelijkbare manier te beoordelen.
